Beginners and experienced rowers alike are welcome to join our Youth Race Team! Our competitive team includes middle school and high school athletes between the ages of 12 and 18. Beginning rowers join our novice team and row against other novice rowers for their first year. The varsity team competes with youth programs throughout the Midwest and across the country.
Rowing is a sport where athletes quickly gain self-confidence and discipline, which often leads to a boost in grade point averages as well. For those interested in rowing in college, there are many competitive opportunities available, some of which include scholarships for high-achieving rowers. In fact, of those who participate in a competitive high school rowing program, 18 percent of males and 56 percent of females will receive a partial or full college scholarship. Great Miami Crew has many athletes with rowing scholarships in collegiate programs.
True to our mission, we are committed to assisting anyone who desires to explore the Great Miami River, regardless of physical ability. As the only adaptive rowing program in Southwest Ohio, Annie’s Oars and Betty’s Blades (AOBB) provides an opportunity for people with disabilities to row for health & wellness, recreation, or competition.
Our adaptive rowing program provides river access, the rowing experience, and race opportunities catering to a wide variety of interests and abilities. Our rowers include people with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, amputees, visual & hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities and many other ability levels.
