A Hamilton native, Coach Malachi has been rowing since fall 2016 when he joined GMRC and helped pilot the Junior Varsity program before joining the Varsity team in 2019. Coach Malachi’s favorite part of rowing on the Great Miami River is seeing the city come to life with runners, bikers, riverside concerts and the occasional car chase – all viewed from a small boat on the river. Since 2022, he has coached GMRC while also competing and attending college at Miami University. Coach Malachi’s favorite rowing memory is riding a wave into the finish line, securing a quarterfinal win against Egypt in the Junior Mixed Double at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Italy in 2023.
